TRANSFORMING LIVES  THROUGH

OUTDOOR PROGRAMS

Our Mission

Our mission is simple. Expand access to the outdoors across Nebraska by building radically inclusive programs that reflect real communities, support diverse abilities, and create lasting opportunities.

Camp Outpost is a Nebraska-based 501(c)(3) outdoor outfitter dedicated to making adventure accessible, skills-based, and real. We believe confidence is built one paddle stroke, one carved turn, one brave “I’ll try it” at a time.

Our programs serve communities that are too often left out of traditional recreation, including system-impacted youth, LGBTQ+ youth and families, individuals with disabilities and neurodiverse participants, women and girls finding their footing in outdoor spaces, and anyone who has felt priced out, overlooked, or out of place in the outdoors.

Through year-round programming in paddle sports, water sports, snow sports, skate, equestrian, and STEM-based outdoor education, we bring professional instruction, barrier-free clinics, and our Mobile Outpost gear library directly into neighborhoods, schools, detention centers, and community hubs across Omaha and beyond.

At Camp Outpost, no one needs gear, experience, or the “right background.” Just curiosity. We show up with the equipment, the coaching, and a crew that believes belonging should come standard.

Inclusivity Is Our Compass

The outdoors hasn’t always been accessible to everyone. Barriers like limited adaptive equipment, representation gaps, and societal norms can make adventure feel out of reach. At Camp Outpost, we change that by offering programs that welcome all abilities, provide mentorship, and equip participants with the tools they need to thrive.

A Few Ways We Break Barriers:

GEAR & ENTRY MADE EASY

No gear? No sweat. Our Loaner Gear Library has you covered, and scholarships plus transportation assistance make sure nothing stands in your way.

INCLUSIVE & ADAPTIVE BY DESIGN

We work with specialists so everyone has a seat at the adventure table

PROGRESSION BUILT-IN

Progression is built into every Camp Outpost program through intentional skill pathways that meet participants where they are and support steady growth over time. Each session layers technical development with confidence-building milestones, ensuring learning feels achievable, motivating, and relevant. By pairing structured progression with mentorship and community, we turn short-term participation into long-term engagement and leadership.

BEYOND RECREATION, INTO IMPACT

Our programs are designed to create measurable impact—building confidence, leadership, and access to opportunity through every experience. We use adventure as a tool to strengthen communities, expand representation in the outdoors, and equip participants with skills that extend far beyond the activity itself. The result is lasting change: individuals who don’t just try something new, but carry that growth into school, work, and life.

Why adventure-based skill-building matters

Skill-Building = Resilience

Adventure sports (skate, snow, equine, paddle, surf) teach the art of failing safely and trying again... the definition of resilience. Studies show skateboarding, snowboarding, and equine programs boost self-efficacy, leadership, and emotional regulation — protective factors against anxiety, substance use, and delinquency.

Representation = Belonging

It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you look like, how you move, or how you learn—people stay where they feel seen. When participants see leaders who reflect their world, their culture, their abilities, and their stories, something shifts. Confidence grows. Trust builds. Community sticks. Creating spaces that actually include everyone isn’t about checking a box—it’s about changing outcomes. Because when adventure feels like it’s meant for you, you don’t just show up once. You keep showing up, and that’s where real change starts.

Nice Words From Nice People

  • At All-Inclusive Aquatics, many of our kids had never been on a lake before and all had different needs. Camp Outpost never hesitated to make thoughtful accommodations while keeping everyone safe. They adapted every experience so participants could succeed without being defined by diagnoses. Whether nonspeaking, navigating coordination challenges, or sensory needs, every participant was included—and empowered. Every single child learned to paddle, even if only briefly. What stood out most was how deeply Camp Outpost took time to understand our participants and prepare for each visit. Their care, patience, and belief in our kids made this experience truly special. We’re incredibly grateful and already counting down the days until next summer.

  • We first connected with Camp Outpost through a partnership rooted in shared values: bridging gaps and creating access to outdoor experiences. While skateboarding is our foundation, Camp Outpost helped us expand into snowboarding, paddleboarding, kayaking, and more—opportunities we hadn’t thought feasible before. Together, we offered young skateboarders new ways to explore boardsports and build confidence outdoors. The energy is always encouraging, inclusive, and community-driven. We’ve also loved seeing strong women leaders at Camp Outpost inspiring girls and young women to try new activities. Their passion, skill, and encouragement are contagious. This partnership has helped us grow our community in meaningful ways, and we’re proud to be part of it.

  • My daughters (6 and 3) and I participated in a ukulele workshop following our surf therapy session, and it was a truly transformative experience. We learned about music, culture, and community, painted our own ukuleles, and played songs together as a group. I immediately saw a boost in my girls’ confidence and connection with others as they tried something new. Four months later, those ukuleles still hang on our walls and are part of our daily family routine. What began as a one-day experience has become a lasting practice that brings us closer together. I’m deeply grateful for the joy, learning, and confidence Camp Outpost helped cultivate in our family.

  • As a single parent, I work hard to provide for my 11-year-old daughter, and opportunities like this aren’t always accessible. The scholarship she received through Camp Outpost allowed her to try paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing, and more—experiences she otherwise wouldn’t have had. She gained confidence, learned new skills, and felt genuine camaraderie with other participants as they supported one another. The encouragement and community made a lasting impression on her. The knowledge and experiences she gained will stay with her for life, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity. I would highly recommend Camp Outpost to any family seeking meaningful, confidence-building outdoor programs.

  • What surprised me most about Camp Outpost was the radical hospitality of the staff. Our guests were welcomed with encouragement and permission to fully engage—especially during the equestrian experience. One participant, who hadn’t ridden a horse since being thrown off as a child, chose to face that fear with the support of volunteers. She rode confidently while her sons watched, beaming with pride. The campfire dinner fostered connection as everyone helped prepare food and try new things together. Camp Outpost showed us that stepping outside our comfort zones is easier—and more joyful—when you’re supported by community. We left feeling connected, inspired, and eager to share Camp Outpost with others.
