Nelson Mandela Elementary x Camp Outpost Winter Term

Winter Term at Nelson Mandela Elementary School
Closed Registration

Camp Outpost is proud to partner with Nelson Mandela Elementary School to deliver a school-based Winter Term experience that blends professional snow sports instruction with applied learning and real-world relevance.

Students progress through a structured winter pathway that includes snowboarding foundations, STEM-driven snow science, and terrain park engineering and riding. Participants begin with stance, balance, and edge control before exploring how weather systems, snow conditions, and surface science influence safe riding environments. As skills advance, students are introduced to the fundamentals of terrain park design—learning how features are built, how flow is created, and how responsibility and creativity work together in shared park spaces.

Winter Term at Nelson Mandela positions winter as more than a season—it becomes a learning platform. By combining movement, science, and skill progression, this partnership creates meaningful access to outdoor recreation while building confidence, curiosity, and leadership in the next generation of riders.

This collaboration reflects Camp Outpost’s commitment to bringing high-quality, inclusive outdoor education directly into schools—ensuring students don’t just try something new, but discover what’s possible.

NE Juvenile Justice Center x Camp Outpost Skate Term

Skate Term at Nebraska Juvenile Justice Center
Closed Registration

Camp Outpost is proud to bring Skate Term into Nebraska’s Juvenile Justice Centers, delivering a program built on progression, trust, and real opportunity for young people navigating complex paths.

This closed-registration Skate Term uses surf skate and transition-based riding to create structure, focus, and momentum in an environment where positive outlets matter most. Participants build balance, coordination, and confidence through intentional coaching and purpose-driven games that turn movement into discipline and discipline into growth. Every session is designed to reinforce resilience, accountability, and teamwork—skills that extend far beyond the skate space.

Programs like this matter in detention centers and alternative learning environments because access changes outcomes. When young people are given a chance to build something positive—rather than being defined by where they’ve been—they start to see what’s possible next. Skateboarding becomes more than an activity. It becomes a tool for self-expression, emotional regulation, and rebuilding trust in themselves and others.

Skate Term in this setting reflects Camp Outpost’s commitment to meeting youth where they are and creating pathways forward—bringing professional instruction, structure, and belonging into spaces that too often lack opportunity. This is how we turn access into momentum.

Edison Elementary School x Camp Outpost

Winter Term at Edison Elementary School
Closed Registration

Camp Outpost is proud to partner with Edison Elementary School to deliver a season-long adventure pathway that begins with Winter Term and carries students into Skate and Water Term as spring arrives—creating continuity, confidence, and real momentum across the year.

Through this closed-registration program, students start with a structured Winter Term experience focused on snowboarding foundations, STEM-based snow science, and terrain park engineering and riding. Participants build balance, coordination, and problem-solving skills while learning how weather, snow conditions, and design shape safe and creative riding environments. As the seasons change, the same cohort continues their progression through Skate and Water Term, applying what they’ve learned to new disciplines and new challenges.

This model turns after-school programming into something bigger than a single season. It creates a year-long pathway where access stays consistent, relationships grow stronger, and skill development compounds over time.

Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety

Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety
Open registration, more details to follow.

On Sunday, May 17, the City of Omaha will officially proclaim the third Sunday of May as the Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety—and we’re proud to stand alongside All-Inclusive Aquatics and local partners for the very first year of this powerful community event.

From 12:30–3:30 PM at Omaha’s Home for Boys, families will come together for an afternoon built around confidence, access, and real-world water safety. Kids will learn safety skills in ways that make sense to them through hands-on activities, games, and open swim time, while caregivers connect with trusted local organizations and resources that support inclusive recreation and aquatic experiences.

The day will feature:
• Interactive water safety activities and mini skill workshops in the pool
• A resource fair with community partners including Autism Action Partnership and the Down Syndrome Alliance
• Water safety games, crafts, and a family photo booth in the gym
• A visit from the Omaha Fire Department, helping kids and families build familiarity with first responders in aquatic settings

Camp Outpost is proud to be part of this inaugural event, bringing hands-on access to water sports beyond the pool. Our team will be on-site with stand-up paddleboards with adaptive seating options, along with coaches to help participants explore equipment, build comfort, and try new things in a supportive, low-pressure environment. We’ll also bring interactive on-land and in-water activities that turn learning into confidence and play into progress.

This day is about more than safety. It’s about showing families what’s possible when access meets understanding and when outdoor experiences are built for everyone.

We’re honored to be part of the first-ever Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety and excited to grow this tradition together, season after season.

ABOUT CAMP OUTPOST INC.

Camp Outpost is a Nebraska-based 501(c)(3) outdoor outfitter dedicated to making adventure accessible, skills-based, and real. We believe confidence is built one paddle stroke, one carved turn, one brave “I’ll try it” at a time.

Our programs serve communities that are too often left out of traditional recreation, including system-impacted youth, LGBTQ+ youth and families, individuals with disabilities and neurodiverse participants, women and girls finding their footing in outdoor spaces, and anyone who has felt priced out, overlooked, or out of place in the outdoors.

Through year-round programming in paddle sports, water sports, snow sports, skate, equestrian, and STEM-based outdoor education, we bring professional instruction, barrier-free clinics, and our Mobile Outpost gear library directly into neighborhoods, schools, detention centers, and community hubs across Omaha and beyond.

At Camp Outpost, no one needs gear, experience, or the “right background.” Just curiosity. We show up with the equipment, the coaching, and a crew that believes belonging should come standard.

OPS: Migrant Education Program

Water Term with Project New Lens & OPS Migrant Education Program

Camp Outpost is proud to partner with Project New Lens and Omaha Public Schools’ Migrant Education Program to bring Water Term to students and families through a season of hands-on outdoor learning, confidence-building, and connection.

This collaborative program gives participants access to meaningful water-based experiences through progressive tracks in kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, and Overland Cooking—designed to meet students where they are and open new pathways into outdoor recreation.

Across the term, youth will build real skills on the water while learning how teamwork, safety, and perseverance show up in every environment. On land, Overland Cooking sessions bring the group together around shared meals and practical outdoor skills—turning time outside into moments of leadership, culture-sharing, and community.

This partnership is about more than recreation. It’s about creating access points that feel welcoming, relevant, and empowering for families navigating new systems and new spaces. By working alongside Project New Lens and OPS, Camp Outpost is helping ensure that outdoor opportunity in our community reflects the people who live here.
