Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety
Open registration, more details to follow.
On Sunday, May 17, the City of Omaha will officially proclaim the third Sunday of May as the Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety—and we’re proud to stand alongside All-Inclusive Aquatics and local partners for the very first year of this powerful community event.
From 12:30–3:30 PM at Omaha’s Home for Boys, families will come together for an afternoon built around confidence, access, and real-world water safety. Kids will learn safety skills in ways that make sense to them through hands-on activities, games, and open swim time, while caregivers connect with trusted local organizations and resources that support inclusive recreation and aquatic experiences.
The day will feature:
• Interactive water safety activities and mini skill workshops in the pool
• A resource fair with community partners including Autism Action Partnership and the Down Syndrome Alliance
• Water safety games, crafts, and a family photo booth in the gym
• A visit from the Omaha Fire Department, helping kids and families build familiarity with first responders in aquatic settings
Camp Outpost is proud to be part of this inaugural event, bringing hands-on access to water sports beyond the pool. Our team will be on-site with stand-up paddleboards with adaptive seating options, along with coaches to help participants explore equipment, build comfort, and try new things in a supportive, low-pressure environment. We’ll also bring interactive on-land and in-water activities that turn learning into confidence and play into progress.
This day is about more than safety. It’s about showing families what’s possible when access meets understanding and when outdoor experiences are built for everyone.
We’re honored to be part of the first-ever Day of Commitment to Inclusive Water Safety and excited to grow this tradition together, season after season.
