The Adaptive Surf Program is built around one simple belief: every athlete deserves a pathway to the water, and every family deserves a coaching environment that sees their strengths first.
In partnership with All-Inclusive Aquatics and Fort Wake LLC, Camp Outpost offers weekly adaptive surf coaching in Ashland, Nebraska for youth and families seeking an inclusive, supportive, and highly individualized water experience. Each session is two hours long and currently offered as a private coaching experience, with one family per session. That structure allows our team to build the session around the athlete in front of us.
Before getting on the water, each family completes a strength-based profile. This helps us understand the athlete’s communication style, sensory needs, mobility considerations, comfort level, motivations, support preferences, and the best ways to create a safe and successful environment. From there, every surf session is tailored uniquely around the individual athlete and family.
Some athletes may be working toward standing on the board. Others may be building confidence around the boat, learning water safety, practicing body positioning, exploring movement, or simply experiencing the freedom of being on the water in a way that feels good to them. Progress looks different for every athlete, and we honor that.
This program is not about forcing a standard version of surf culture. It is about widening the shoreline. It is about adaptive coaching, trusted relationships, family-centered support, and creating more entry points into outdoor sport for athletes who have too often been left out of these spaces.
With the support of All-Inclusive Aquatics, Fort Wake LLC, and Camp Outpost coaches, families receive a private, intentional, and strength-based surf experience designed to meet the athlete where they are and help them move forward with confidence.
