Skateboard, STEM, and Snowboard Semester

From pavement to snow, this full-semester term takes scholars through a progression of board sports, movement, and hands-on STEM exploration.

We start on skateboards, building foundational skills in balance, stance, momentum, body positioning, and board control. Along the way, scholars explore the science behind movement through hands-on STEM challenges connecting force, motion, energy, and engineering to what they're learning on their boards.

As the seasons change, so does our terrain. Scholars transition their skateboarding skills into snowboarding, using Camp Outpost's mobile artificial snow terrain to explore edge control, weight distribution, terrain features, and the mechanics of riding on snow.

The goal goes beyond learning two board sports. Through a full semester of consistent coaching, skill progression, and opportunities to try again, scholars build confidence, resilience, problem-solving skills, and trust in their own abilities.

Our multi-week model creates the space for relationships to grow, skills to stick, and scholars to experience what they're capable of when given the time, tools, and encouragement to keep showing up.
